Leith Harbour
Mist blankets this shot of Leith Harbour, in Stromness Bay, South Georgia Island, near the area where Shackleton walked across the island seeking help for his shipwrecked crew the he left on Deception Island after his ship was crushed by ice in the Weddell Sea. The large whaling station was in operation from 1909 until 1965.
How interesting the John Chapman worked here the winter of 1960; it must have been brutally cold!
