Strange that I almost never take photos of my home town, since it is a stunningly beautiful city in a spectacular location. I guess I'm usually too busy when I'm at home, and only seem to have time to take photos when I'm away. Today I was photographing a Vancouver Symphony Orchestra volunteer event, and was taking a friend home when we drove past Fisherman's Wharf. It was such a gorgeous day we decided to stop in at a popular fish stand for a fish taco. I actually left my camera in the car with no intention of taking photos. But it was going to take 20 minutes for our order to be ready, so I grabbed my camera from the car and what you see in the posts today was the result.
• The high rises of Vancouver seen from Fisherman's wharf. A woman in a sea kayak can be seen at larger sizes.
  • Fresh caught sockeye salmon, Fisherman's Wharf, Vancouver, BC

This year we are experiencing a record sockeye salmon run on the Fraser River and this salmon was caught on a long line near the mouth of the river last night and it and the rest of the catch was for sale off the fishing boat that was tied up to the dock at Fisherman's wharf.

Pit bull and his shadow, Fisherman's Wharf, Vancouver, BC. Hunter was a gorgeous, gentle dog with huge jaws that I met with his owner while waiting for our fish tacos to be ready.
  • Go Fish

God Fish is a highly popular fish stand at Fisherman's Wharf that sell excellent grilled salmon tacos, fish and chips and great ceviche. We had the salmon tacos and fish ceviche. The Granville Street bridge is in the background

Your hometown is beautiful Terry. We loved visiting but our time was so short but hank you for showing us around and cooking the BEST lunch we had - the only one that rivaled it was the Dungenous Crab lunch. Your's was delightful. I hope we get back to Vancouver again and I'll certainly let you know.
