What the storm revealed
A huge storm in 1993 hitting Bosta Beach on Great Bernera Island off the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, uncovered stone walls that were the remains of a Norse settlement. Further excavations in 1996 revealed the remains of Pictish, Iron Age Houses dating back to ~600 AD, perfectly preserved by the overlying sands. This is a reconstruction of the Iron Age House with its sunken drystone wall foundation and the addition of a traditional sod roof, Scotland.
