Glenfinnan monument

The Glenfinnan monument, erected in 1815, features a kilted highlander overlooking the mountains of the long fjord-like freshwater Loch Shiel. It honours those who died in the 1745 Jacobite Rising, Glenfinnan, Scottish Highlands.

  • The cruise ship Nova Spero, Stornaway, passes through a Neptune's staircase lock, built by Thomas Telford between 1803 and 1822, and the Banavie Swing Bridge on the Caledonian Canal, Fort William, Scotland. The Caledonian canal, built in the early 19th C, joins the E. Coast of Scotland with the W. Coast, running from Inverness to Fort Willliam down a series of lochs (Ness, Ochy and Oich) and locks ending with the 8 staircase lock of Neptune's staircase at Loch Linnhe.
