Eye to eye
Juvenile Andean condor (Vultur gryphus), a threatened species, soaring in the updrafts from Cerro Palomares, Patagonia. The cliffs of Cerro Paomares, north of Punta Arenas, generate strong updraft winds as they heat up in the sun and the condors like to breed on the cliffs and soar in the winds. I scrambled down a steep cliff face in howling winds with all my camera gear (which helped weigh me down so I wasn't blown off ), but the effort to get eye to eye with the condors was worth it.

on May 16, 2019One of your best. Maybe not technically best, but for content, and for what you were willing to go through to get the shot, and for that ineffable moment of contact with a wild creature that was your reward.
