The Western Copper Mine was located about 8 km up the Khutze valley, British Columbia. The mine was connected to the head of Khutze Inlet by the tramway that you see here. At the end of the railway, the minerals were loaded onto barges at a wharf and taken out by sea. The property was active prior to 1910, and again, under several different owners, between 1925 and 1932. It produced primarily copper, as well as small amounts of gold and silver.<br />
