Lago Fiero and climate change

Another of the glacial lakes below the icefields and glaciers of Monte San Valentin, Patagonia's tallest peak, is the silt-brown Lago Fiero with its build up of glacial ice at its end. All of the proglacial lakes in the Northern Patagonia icefield are retreating with climate change, and Lago Fiero is retreating the fastest of all. The snow line elevation has gone up 100 M since 1987 and the glacier has retreated 2.3 km, nearly doubling the size of the lake. An interesting description of the glacial retreat is here: https://blogs.agu.org/fromaglaciersperspective/2020/01/12/fiero-glacier-chile-retreat-lago-fiero-expansion/
