  • Innocence of youth<br /> <br /> The shy young daughter of the owner of a small hotel in Western Mongolia gracefully agreed to pose for a portrait. She turned out to be a natural model.   • Winning move<br /> <br /> The Kukhbar competition is one of the highlights of the Eagle Festival in Olgii, Western Mongolia. Kazakh tribesmen mounted on horses battle heatedly to see which one can capture a goat skin from the other while staying on his horse. After several rounds of competition a winner is declared. The horses are as important as the men in the competition as they assist the men in getting good positioning. Taken at the Eagle Festival, Olgii, Western Mongolia<br /> <br /> NOTE: I got a notice from SM today that old SM will be retired in October. I have written to ask if the Popular Today site (hopefully in a much improved version) will continue to function. Right now in its ability to profile new posts and rank them SM is FAR inferior to other sites such as 500px, NG Your Shot, Photocrowd, Flickr, etc. But SM is considerable more expensive. If I do not receive a satisfactory answer from SM about their giving some priority to profiling and ranking new posts that I will be migrating to another site.
