Temple of Hera
The Temple of Hera (Temple E) is a Greek Doric temple, built towards the middle of the sixth century BC on top of the foundations of a more ancient building. It is located at Selinunte, one of the most important of the Greek colonies in Sicily, situated on the southwest coast of that island. Of 5 temple at the site, only this one (Temple E) has undergone anastylosis (reconstruction using the original material) .

on December 26, 2017I love exploring ancient places like this. The building and architectural skills of the old ones are incredible to study today. They were very advanced for the time.

on December 26, 2017The effort and the craftsmanship that must have gone into building a temple such as this would be hard to comprehend !! But, in time, temples turn into ruins and gods dissapear into oblivion - cycle after cycle. Nothing lasts ....... Very much like the composition !!!
