Seaplanes
Early morning at the Seal Cove Seaplane Base, Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Only 2 roads cross all of northern British Columbia and provide road access to the BC coast at Prince Rupert and Bella Coula. Two-thirds of BC (242,000 square miles) has no road access and BC holds the largest roadless tract of north temperate rainforest in the world. BC has ~15,000 miles of coastline that can be reached only by boat or seaplane. The Prince Rupert Seaplane Base is a major resource for getting people to remote coastal areas of British Columbia. Eight of us took a couple of seaplanes from here up to the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary to join our tour boat.

on June 21, 2018Amazing that there is so much area that is essentially "untouched by human hands"--love the idea of it, and wish there was more of it!
