Dapper couple
A dapper couple of Kakashi dolls (scarecrow dolls) sitting on their porch in Nagoro Doll Village watching the world pass them by, Iya Valley, Shikoku Island, Japan. The dolls were constructed to represent village residents who had died or had left the remote village in search of work.

on October 8, 2019Oh my, what a cool shot! Very interesting to see their clothes up close and to really be able to enjoy their faces, although they don't look particularly happy, do they?

on October 8, 2019I like seeing these dolls close up, to see the details. Seems that all the dolls' expressions are kind of grim--no smiles. Is that a statement, or is it a Japanese thing? Were there any with smiles?
