  • Girl with a blue umbrella<br /> <br /> It was pouring rain at the Toshogu Shrine, a shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616), who brought a long period of civil wars to an end and united all of Japan. The shrine, founded in 1617, is on Mount Kuno (Kunosan) and his tomb is at the top of the mountain. <br /> <br /> Everyone had umbrellas and I starting noticing that they lent a spot of colour to an otherwise drab day.
