Sorry, best I could do for pumpkins and fall grasses here in Japan. Fishing floats and coiled ropes, taken at the harbour in Naruto, Shikoku Island. I headed to Shizuoka and the Mount Fuji area this morning on the Bullet Train (Shinkansen) to give some more talks, but hopefully also get some shots of Mt. Fuji in the fall.

  • The tempura chef<br /> <br /> If is rare in Japan to have a woman chef at the top levels. We went to a wonderful little tempura restaurant for dinner last night and each small room has its own chef who cooks for the group (in our case 4 people). I was pleased and surprised to see that our chef was a woman. She prepared a wonderful meal in front of us, explaining what she was cooking for each delicious dish. She made the tempura batter bit by bit as it was required (pots to the left of the picture) so it was always fresh, and prepared each piece to be fried just before it was to be eaten.
