• Iranian saffron with reflections

Saffron is the world's costliest spice by weight and Iran is famous for its saffron, which is produced by painstakingly collecting the stigma from individual crocus flowers (Crocus sativus). Iran produces over 90% of the world's saffron, which has a history going back over 4000 years.

This photo was taken at the Grand Bazaar in Tehran. At first I was put off by all of the reflections in the glass of the shop window but then saw a way that I could have it work for me in the photo.
