Lights of Tehran

I had a wonderful view of the lights of Tehran and the Milad Tower on the horizon from my hotel room in Tehran (best larger)

 • Mercedes Benz Gullwing 300SL, 1954

This beauty was owned by the former Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Palavi. His former residence, Saadabad Palace in Tehran, has a car museum where some of his cars are conserved.

Other cars from the museum can be seen here, plus some shots of Tehran city: http://goo.gl/fVEmLC
• Iranian saffron with reflections

Saffron is the world's costliest spice by weight and Iran is famous for its saffron, which is produced by painstakingly collecting the stigma from individual crocus flowers (Crocus sativus). Iran produces over 90% of the world's saffron, which has a history going back over 4000 years.

This photo was taken at the Grand Bazaar in Tehran. At first I was put off by all of the reflections in the glass of the shop window but then saw a way that I could have it work for me in the photo.
In this shot, I was trying to use camera movement togive the feeling for the busy city life and activity at night, as seen from my hotel room window.
