Mt Fuji dominates the horizon at sunrise and a bullet train (shinkansen) travels along the railway lines towards Shizuoka Railway Station, Japan.
Godzilla is a legendary monster, kind of a cross between a mutated marine iguana and a dinosaur (awakened from the ocean and mutated by nuclear radiation), that spawned the longest running series in movie history, beginning in 1954 and continuing to the present. In recognition of Godzilla's fame there is a gigantic statue of him overlooking Shinjuku, Tokyo, on the 8th floor of the Hotel Gracery (that comes alive and roars every hour) and a fascinating collection of movie posters from the 32 movies to date in the hotel lobby. Three more movies are in production.
A close-up look at the cooking of katsuo no tataki (seared bonito). A big fat fillet of bonito rests on a metal rake that is shoved into the middle of the short-lasting but intense flames from a straw fire, Kochi, Japan. This quickly sears the outer layers and puts a slightly crispy cooked outer coating on the fillet, leaving a raw interior. The end result is very tasty, kinda reminiscent of pan-seared Ahi tuna.
