Sensing danger
A mother grizzly, sensing danger, rears up on the river bank to protect her cub. The greatest danger to cubs are adult male grizzlies who will kill unrelated cubs to mate with the female. There are lots of flying insects in this shot. Chilko River, Cariboo Chilcotin, British Columbia.

on March 23, 2023She sure is standing tall, very alert, checking out the surroundings! Cute cub sitting down behind her, hiding behind her "skirts" so to speak.

on March 23, 2023The grizzly mothers are fiercely protective of the cubs as they should be. The males are so dangerous to the young. Great shot and I like the bright circles in the scene which I believe would be the flying insects.
