Nightjar
A common pauraque (Nyctidromus albicollis, a tropical nightjar), resting on a branch during the day, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. It starts to fly at dusk, eating flying insects.

4 weeks agoSo neat that you found a roosting pauraque! I've found that roosting nightjars are great photo subjects (if you ever find them!), as they are sleepy, but always have at least one eye partly open, to protect themselves.
