Hatchling heading for the ocean
At sunrise, an Olive ridley sea turtle hatchling (Lepidochelys olivacea) heads down the beach to the Pacific Ocean, where they will mature for several years before returning to the same beach to lay eggs, Playa Rio Oro, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.

on August 30, 2022So cute. Great shot. Glad to see they are heading in the right direction. I watched a few snapping turtles, over the weekend, as they hatched and came out of the ground. Unfortunately, they all headed onto a busy parking lot., the opposite direction a safe environment. Fortunately, a couple of concerned people were scooping them up and putting them in a safe place.
