Tasty top canopy leaves
A mantled howler monkey (Alouatta palliata) high in a tree eating a breakfast of tender young top canopy leaves, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. The mantled howler is the only Central American monkey to eat large quantities of leaves. Note his long tail wrapped around a tree branch.

3 weeks agoThe howler's tail is really thick--probably good to have it well wrapped about a branch when you are up on the upper "skinny branches"" at breakfast time.
