Portrait of a wild huemul stag

A wild huemul stag with velvet antlers turned towards me as I stood quietly in the bush allowing me to capture a nice portrait, Parque Nacional Cerro Castillo, Carretera Austral, Patagonia.

I love seeing their horns in velvet. I agree with Judith, I think he's a little curious about you being there, and watching with a wary eye. Great shot! Thank you for your best wishes on the procedure today. It is done and I was home by 12:30. Time will tell if it alienates some of the pain. Fingers crossed.

It looks as if he's not too worried about your being there. I think animals can sometimes tell if you mean to harm them, and feel safe in the presence of safe people. I take it as a compliment when I experience this out in the wild.
