One eye
A single eye staring at the ground is all that is left of this fallen totem pole, S'Gang Gwaii (Ninstints), Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. I believe this is the same fallen pole that I photographed in 1999 where two eyes were visible, as seen in the accompanying photo. https://www.allenfotowild.com/DailyPhoto/Daily-2015/i-WZnrpnr/A

on August 21, 2021Super shot Terry! As Judy said, the comparison with the old shot is really interesting. The deterioration seems significant over the last 20 years.

on August 20, 2021So sad to see the decay. But I suspect the native people would say this is how it should be with the fallen wood returning to the earth.

on August 20, 2021It's just so sad to see the destruction that the storm has wrought upon the great old totems.
