Kaway tree
A shaft of light starting to hit the moss-covered buttress roots of the Kaway tree (Pterocarpus officinalis), with a few fallen leaves in front. The tree grows in the lowland forests of Central America and gains support on the thin soil, and gets nutrients, from its giant buttress roots.

on January 7, 2022Wonderful closeup of the buttress roots; I like the green of the moss which emphasizes the curves in the roots and their textures.
