Pygmy owl
The Austral pygmy owl (Glaucidium nana) is among the world's smallest owls with a total length of around 20 cm. They live in the Nothofagus beech forests in southern Chile and this one was perched in the forest that grows on the top of Cerro Palomares, north of Punta Arenas.
