Busy feeding
An adult grizzly bear was feeding on the lush spring sedge grass by some blooming lupines near a water channel at high tide in the Khutzeymateen estuary and it was possible to quietly get near enough for a good close-up. These bears are hungry after their long winter hibernation and are very focused on feeding, so they don't pause even for a moment in their feeding as we drift quietly by them, except maybe to give us the eye. The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear sanctuary is in a vast roadless wilderness of Northern BC and get very few human visitors.

on June 24, 2019Wonderful close up. I like the color accent the lupines provide. I take it they're not on the bears' menu.
