Up, up and away
A meteorologist at the Ittoqqortoormiit weather station prepares to launch the weather balloon. Balloon borne radiosoundings are taken every 12 hours, measuring vertical profiles of temperature, pressure, humidity and wind speeds. The walls of the hut are lined with black and white portraits of the community members. Scoresby Sund, East Greenland.

on September 16, 2020Very interesting about the weather balloon. I'm assuming that the information obtained this way is radioed to other locations?? He looks very intent in what he is doing with the balloon.

on September 16, 2020Excellent addition to your photo documentation of village like. This well done candid portrait shows the size of the balloon in comparison to a adult person and also the photos on the wall add a lot of human interest to go with the scene of the houses.

on September 16, 2020to answer your question Terry... we store the potatoes in the basement, as cool, dry & dark a place as we can find. When cleaning the potatoes, we try not to get them too wet, so they are stored very dry. They usually keep until Feb/March & then start sprouting & get soft, but we won't have enough to last that long this year. Good luck with yours, would like to know how you store & keep them.
