Houses with distant icebergs
Colourful houses in Ittoqqortoormiit, with distant icebergs to the left in Scoresby Sund, East Greenland. The boxes on the rocky foreshore are probably crates for the huskies that pull sleds when the snows come.
LOL Ricks's comments about no lawn to mow....but plenty of snow to shovel except for a few weeks in the summer.

on August 24, 2020I am glad I'm not from Ittoqqortoormilit because if I was and someone asked me where are you from? I'd just say I'm from It...you know in Greenland and they would know. Nice shot Terry.

on August 24, 2020This is excellent Terry! Love the colors of the homes. I can't imagine living there with "civilization" so far away, and what must be terrible winters - but obviously they manage well.

on August 24, 2020Wonderful capture, Terry. That would be a difficult place for most of us to live. A difficult name to spell and pronounce

on August 24, 2020Really nice to have this even closer view of the houses--can't even imagine the life there! If they can't grow anything, everything has to be shipped in? If they are hundreds of kms from other settlements, I'm having trouble imagining this life. Can they even fish once winter sets in? I know in Alaska they used to use a lot of smoked salmon to get through the winter. Still...?

on August 24, 2020Well composed image! I wonder how many weeks out of the year that they see the barren rock out their front doors rather than snow?
