The isolation and wildness of our environment struck me when I saw this back pack and polar bear rifles leaning against an airport building and we were told that it was important not to go wandering around looking for photo ops without being within sight of a guide with a rifle, since polar bears with unpredictable behaviour could be lurking in the vicinity. The Air Iceland Connect flight that took us into Nerlerit Inaat airport, took out a group of Chinese tourists. The transfer helicopter to the helipad in the small village of Ittoqqortoormiit across Hurry Inlet an the bottom of Liverpool Land can be seen in the background, East Greenland.
