Inside the ice cave
Inside the blue and black ice Katla ice cave looking towards its entrance. Kötlujökull glacier, arm of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, Iceland. The blue ice is the oldest (most compressed ice) and volanic ash incorporated in the ice gives it the black colour. HDR photo to accommodate the extreme variations in light.

on November 8, 2020Excellent composition of the cave and window on its own but also a neat nature semi-abstract.

on November 7, 2020When I saw the shot with people at the mouth of the cave, I wondered if you had a chance to go inside--wonderful view, looking out.

on November 7, 2020That is an amazing shot given the extremes in lighting.....Looks to be a shelter from what appears to be a cold environment outside of the cave entrance....I like the variation in texture of the black ice...nicely done...:-)
