Katla ice cave
Inside the Katla ice cave with snow on the floor, and ice scallops and striations on the walls and ceilings, Kötlujökull Glacier, Iceland. Various shade of black and blue ice make an almost abstract image. HDR was used to capture the large variation in light levels. We wore crampons to give us traction on the slippery ice.

on November 8, 2020Very interesting look inside the cave--I had wondered about walking around on the ice--glad you had the crampons! When we were kids in Alaska, my dad used to take us out on the lake on the sled, and he would run on the ice with crampons, and give us a wild ride. We loved it, always asking him to go "faster, Daddy"! ;-)

on November 8, 2020This is just amazing Terry. It almost looks like the ice was "painted" on the rocks. It makes for a wonderful abstract. Love the shapes in the ice.
