Mosses in a frozen stream
Chartreuse (lime green) mosses in an iced-over stream really catch the eye with a blast of colour, Danmark Ø, Scoresby Sund, East Greenland. In this area, the late summer/early fall is the warmest season, but the temperature often drops below freezing at night, and is just above freezing at the warmest part of the day.

on August 6, 2020Interesting to see the moss and ice together. If that is the warmest time of year, and it barely gets above freezing during the day, I can only imagine what it is like later in the season!

on August 6, 2020Great shot of this moss in all the ice ..... amazing how long it takes it to grow & how easily it can be damaged.
