Polar bears rule
Large male polar bear passing by an SUV, Hudson Bay, Churchill, Manitoba. The polar bears on the shoreline pretty much go where the fancy takes them and, with a few exceptions, seem more curious about humans and cars than frightened or aggressive. This in an example of a typical close encounter where the bear, on its way to the shoreline, passes close to a photographer standing behind the door of an SUV. The recommended distance to keep away from a polar bear is 100 meters, but the curious bears often decide to come much closer.

on November 16, 2020Love seeing the polar bear in the same frame as the SUV to give a better sense of the size the bear. Looks like he still has lots more weight to gain.

on November 15, 2020Great view the bear taking his "right of way"--which begs the question, where were YOU?? In another SUV, or out in the field?

on November 15, 2020That bear is as big as the truck is wide. Stay safe around those beasts.
