Sunrise with distant peaks
Huangshan National Park at sunrise, with air pollution lying in the valleys, Anhui Province, China.
Dangerously high levels of air pollution, ranging from unhealthy to hazardous, was widespread everywhere I travelled during the late summer in China. Sometimes, as here, it made for some interesting landscape photography effects, and other times it made landscape photography (and breathing) nearly impossible. Fortunately for my lungs, the worst of the pollution didn't reach so much into the high peaks of Huangshan National Park.

on November 22, 2017Wow, what amazing layers. Very mysterious "feel" to this capture. Love it!So sad that the pollution contributes to the effect.

on November 21, 2017Beautiful layers...scary to think of pollution causing these wonderful hazy scenes, though!

on November 21, 2017Beautiful layered look with wonderful pastels. Sad that it is pollution that gives that effect.

on November 21, 2017Sigh! This is what I call a dreamscape. It doesn't seem real. But ethereal. The stuff of our fond imaginings. Sad to know that severe air pollution contributed to the dreamy quality of the image. I knew that parts of China had horrible air pollution, but thought it was confined to the large metro areas. I've been reading lately about how unlivable, literally, New Delhi has become, because of the same air pollution problem. It's a tragedy.
