Enchanted Lake

Tiwu Ata Polo (Enchanted Lake) is a crater lake in Kelimutu National Park, East Nusa Tenggara Island (also called Flores Island), Indonesia. This is one of three lakes in the park that are known for their intense colours that change with the time of day and the season. Although they might look inviting, don't think of swimming in the lakes as they are highly acid, boiling hot and lethal. Indonesia lies at the convergence of three tectonic plates, so evidence of various levels of volcanic activity can be seen throughout the islands.

Interesting info to accompany the striking image of this lake. I suppose the yellowing of the rocks is from sulfurous compounds

What a beautiful lake, and you've captured it so well. I reminds me a little of Moon Lake on top of one of the mountains in Colorado, although this one appears to be so much deeper. It's interesting that as inviting as it looks it's lethal. Great capture!

Glad you didn't get too close to the edge to get your pic--and whoops! fall in. I remember being somewhere on Bali where a large area was covered with volcanic lava, only the occasional ground rise with a shrub or so on it. At the far end you could see how the lava flowed down and then finally stopped. Quite a lesson in volcanic activity.
