Hundreds of torii gates
In the early morning a Shinto priestess disappears down the tunnel of torii gates that lead up Inari mountain from the base of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shinto shrine. The climb to the top passes through over 5000 of the vermillion gates.
Response to fotoeffects: actually the gates slant in towards the top and they are not even as they shift over the years. I did make sure the horizontals were pretty much straight, but what you see is as straight as it gets.

on August 22, 2016After viewing the image and reading your commentary, I totally agree with Judy Horton's (aka "fotoeffects") comment; however, thanks for the explanation at providing clarity regarding the reason for the "slant."

on August 22, 2016Such a super pov! I love the vivid color, too. Because it is such a great shot, I think a little bit of straightening would make it even better!

on August 21, 2016I do love the repeating shapes of the columns and the way they pull the eyes deep into the photo to see and experience the whole of the capture.
