SS Klondike II

SS Klondike II National Historic Site on the Yukon River, Whitehorse, Yukon Territories. The SS Klondike was the largest of the sternwheelers of the British Yukon Navigation Company that moved freight up the shallow Yukon River between Whitehorse and Dawson City between 1921 and 1950. The first boat, Klondike I, ran aground in 1936 and was canabalized to build Klondike II in 1937. She was retired in 1950 with the completion of a highway between the two cities. The ship was moved to its present location by the Yukon River in Whitehorse in 1967 after a spell as a cruise ship for tourists and is now fully restored as a National Historic Site of Canada.

Wow, what a great old boat! I love that the white of the boat complements the white of the snow. We didn't see this old beauty while we were there.
