Rice terraces reflecting the sky early morning
The Honghe Hani rice terraces are a recently designated UNESCO World Heritage site in the south of Yunnan province, China (just north of the border with Vietnam). They cascade down the Ailao mountains to the banks of the Hong River and have been in constant cultivation for the last 1300 years. They are sculpted out of the hills so the water flows down from the top, filling each one in turn. They are truly marvellous to see and photograph. These terraces are at Duoyishu.
