Juvenile scarlet ibis
Until they are around 2 years old scarlet ibis (Eudocimus ruber) are more gray in colour, gradually turning bright red from the pigments from crustaceans in their diet. This juvenile was showing off its beautiful plumage.
I may not be able comment and post very regularly for the next while, but will be back again hopefully with some interesting new images.

on November 22, 2015What an interesting and apparent contrast in the colors of the Juvenile scarlet ibis and the Scarlet ibis that you posted yesterday. Thanks for sharing the information explaining why!
