Iguazu falls and Hotel das Cataracas
Iguazu Falls are a spectacular sight; they are a UNESO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Iguazu River cascades over the edge of the Paraná Plateau (2700 long) in a series of 150-300 waterfalls, depending on the water level. The individual waterfalls are from 60 to 82 m high. I took a helicopter ride over the falls one morning with a high overcast that prevented blown highlights. This shot is of Ilha do Sao Martin (St. Martin's Island) and the St. Martin falls with the famous old Hotel das Cataracas to the left.

on October 23, 2015This is incredible!!!! We fished on the Parana River a few years ago, but didn't make it to Iguazu. Our next trip to Argentina will include this location.

on October 22, 2015The falls were many times the length on Niagra Fall, but share in common their vertical drop over the edge of a cliff.

on October 22, 2015These falls remind me so much of Niagara Falls - and from the thumbnail, I assumed that it was! I bet the helicopter ride was fun!
