Woman winding silk thread onto bobbins (notice the motion you can see in the threads, the wheel and the woman's hand as she spins the wheel that turns the bobbins)
Today I've posted several interesting scenes from a silk workshop (Ko Than Hliang) on Inle Lake, Myanmar. The details are best seen at larger sizes. They include silk weaving, and making fibres pulled from lotus stalks, which is really fascinating. See here: http://goo.gl/YyWKAg
One of the things that I like the most about Burma was the number of artisans working in all types of media, who were using traditional old hand techniques to make their crafts. It was very satisfying to know that the old knowledge is alive and well and still being used.
