Who's watching who?
Arriving at the Sea Lion Rocks (Eumetopias jubatusin, a near threatened species) a remote area of north coastal British Columbia, we noticed a number of young sea lions jumping into the sea. We thought maybe we had frightened them. Then to our astonishment they all grouped together and started to swim alongside our boat with their heads out of the water looking at us, periodically leaping and diving by the boat. It was very clear that they were watching us as we watched them. I was happy to see and capture this amazing spectacle. Truly an unexpected and astounding moment
