Baby orangutan grabs at a banana
Tanjung Puting National Park in Borneo is one of the marvels of the world with its protected population of endangered orangutangs and other primate populations. The park is in the Kalimantan province of Indonesia and access to the apes and monkeys is via the Sekonyer River. In this shot a young orangutan is trying to grab a banana from its mother.
Photography of the apes in the jungle is challenging due to the lack of light, the presence of many trees, the high heat and humidity, and the rapid movement of the apes. It required a high speed and high ISO and a higher f stop to get all or most of the animals in focus.
