A view through the eastern entrance (gopura) of the inner enclosure wall of the 10th century Banteay Srei Hindu temple looking through to the mandapa (entrance to sanctuary). The pediment above the gate has an intricate carving in the red sandstone of Shiva Nataraja. The figure depicts the Hindu God Shiva as the cosmic dancer who prepares the universe for its renewal.
Fine image of Lord Shiva, the destroyer aspect of the Trinity, dancing the Tandava, the cosmic dance. Out of destruction comes reconstruction. Very symbolic shot too, on a deeper level. First one is transfixed on the Form, represented by Shiva. Then, eventually one arrives at the formless Parabrahman, represented by the dark shape in the centre. Clever shot, really !!!
